Our Services/Projects
These are the services we currently offer;
Somali Link Worker
The Somali Link Worker works closely with school-based Home/School Link Workers and community groups to establish effective links with Somali parents and support schools in identifying and addressing issues facing Somali young people. The Worker establishes regular meeting with identified pupils at KS4 to work on self-esteem, motivation and encouraging participation in extra-curricular and out of school learning opportunities. He also works closely with Connexions PAS, Mentors, the KS4/5 Progression Advisors and EMAS.
Advocacy and Guidance
A one-day advice service is run for Somali refugees and asylum seekers in our centre at 62a St Paul’s Crescent NW1. A volunteer part time outreach worker offers advice to Somali families in their ‘mother tongue’. An interpretation/translation service is also provided to refugees with language issues.
Our Plans
The focus is currently shifted towards training, coaching and inspiring the unemployed and those with low skill sets. Our aim here is to develop new initiatives that have been highlighted as necessary by staff, service users and external stakeholders including funders and consolidate work done so far.
